CLOSED: Creativity for Kids Product Review and Giveaway / Holiday Gift Guide

I am always on the lookout for creative art projects to do with my little ones. As a homeschooling mom one of their favorite school time activities is Art Time.

I am very creative and see that my little ones picked up that trait from myself.

I remember when I was a little girl doing Shrinky Dinks. They were so much fun to decorate and then magically make them shrink using the oven. I just thought it was the coolest thing in the world.

Creativity for Kids was willing to work with us on a review, and
they let me choose an item that we would like to review.

Looking through the site I saw a Shrinky Dinks Holiday Fun Kit and knew that was the perfect one!

Celebrate with Shrinky Dinks! Kit includes colored pencils, genuine Shrinky Dinks, and all the materials needed to make & decorate a 9" tinsel tree.

•30 Shrinky Dinks ornaments

•8 colored pencils

•hole punch

•assorted metallic stars

•ornament rings

•star shaped tree topper

•silver metallic tree branches (assorted sizes)

•metallic foil paper for wrapping tree base

•pre-assembled tree base

My kids were so excited when they saw me take the box out. They were excited that it was an art project but had no clue what to do with it...LOL

I explained to them what it was and what we would be doing with it all.

First off this is everthing that was included with the set. I went through each piece and explained it to my older 2 children.

I then gave each one 2 sheets in which they would color the pictures, and I decided to do the 5th so their wouldn't be a fuss over it.

They provided us with colored pencils to color them.

Once they colored them all I then cut them all out.

Here is a pic of some of them after we colored them.

We then put foil over a cookie sheet and preheated the oven to the correct temp.

This is a picture of them placed on the cookie sheet.

We then placed them in the oven to bake.

This is a picture of them once they came out of the oven and shrunk.

My kids couldn't believe  how little they got and were amazed by the whole process!!!

Amongst the excited we did miss a step. We were suppose to punch a hole in each one before placing them in the oven. They provide the hole puncher in the set. We forgot to do this, but the creative ones that we are came up with a way to fix it. I got out our hot glue gun and put a dot on the back of each and attached the ring to each. Worked great!!!

You are suppose to put the rings through the holes so you can hang them from the tree.

We then started to put the tree together. You have to assemble the whole thing. We laid out the pipe cleaners by size. We then wrapped the foil around the bottom and placed the 2 longer ones by wrapping them around the pole. Then we started wrapping the pipe cleaners around the pole starting at the bottom with the longest ones and working our way to the top. Once we got to the top we then attached the star.

Once that is complete we started putting the plastic stars on the tree limbs. Once that is complete my little ones started placing the ornaments on the tree.

Here is the completed tree. They were so excited that we left it out on the table as our 1st decorations for this holiday season.

They have also asked to add Shrinky Dinks to their Christmas List.

They had a blast doing it and said it was so much fun!!!

I invite you to stop by and view all of their wonderful kits. Lots of fun for the whole family. Santa would be excited to place these kits under your tree this year :)
